The 1980s Brooklyn crime drama returns to Amazon Prime Video with 12 new episodes and an all-star cast.
The streets of 1980s Brooklyn are getting even more crowded — and a whole lot more dangerous.
Gravesend is returning for Season 3 on Amazon Prime Video, with Shaquita Smith being upped to a recurring role as Charlene and basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal joining the cast as Mustafa, a powerful boss overseeing Bed-Stuy.
Created, written by and starring Brooklyn native William DeMeo, the independent crime drama returns with 12 new episodes that expand the world of the Colezzo crime family while introducing a new crop of familiar faces.
Alongside Smith and O’Neal, Season 3 adds Tony Danza and Talia Shire to the cast. Returning cast members include DeMeo as Benny “Benny Z” Zerletta, along with Armand Assante, Vince Curatola, Leo Rossi, Mario Cantone, Dominic Chianese, Chuck Zito, Bo Dietl and Sid Rosenberg.
Smith, known for her work in Wicked City, will have an expanded presence in the upcoming season as Charlene.
Her promotion to a recurring role comes as Gravesend continues to broaden its ensemble and expand its story beyond its South Brooklyn roots.
O’Neal makes his Gravesend debut as Mustafa, described as the formidable boss running operations in Bed-Stuy.
His arrival adds another layer to the series’ increasingly complicated power structure as Benny Z and the Colezzo crime family face competing syndicates, shifting alliances and new threats.
Set in the mid-1980s, Gravesend follows Benny “Benny Z” Zerletta, a rising soldier within the Colezzo crime family who struggles to balance his devout Catholic upbringing with the violent realities of organized crime.
Season 3 sees the family’s operations expand beyond South Brooklyn, including ventures into Miami, while new syndicates compete for territory and influence.
Mustafa’s arrival in Bed-Stuy creates another threat to Benny’s growing position, setting the stage for loyalty tests, shifting alliances and betrayal.
The series will continue leaning into its depiction of 1980s Brooklyn, with filming taking place across recognizable New York locations including L&B Spumoni Gardens and Coney Island.
The new season also serves as a tribute to the late Vincent Pastore, best known for The Sopranos, whose final television role appears in Season 3.
“This season is our biggest and most ambitious yet,” DeMeo said. “Producing 12 episodes felt like making six feature films. To tell the story of the neighborhood I grew up in alongside absolute legends like Shaq, Tony Danza, and Talia Shire is an incredible blessing.”
Gravesend Season 3 will stream on Amazon Prime Video with all 12 episodes rolling out in a staggered release. Seasons 1 and 2 are currently available to stream worldwide.
