Damon Wayans and David Alan Grier are bringing an In Living Color reunion to NBC’s St. Denis Medical.
Wayans will guest star in the Season 3 premiere of the medical comedy, reuniting with his former In Living Color castmate Grier, who stars as Ron on the series.
Wayans will play Dr. Highland, a charming but pompous new doctor who arrives at St. Denis while Ron is recovering from surgery. His confidence and medical insights quickly make him a favorite among the hospital’s patients and staff — with Alex being the lone exception.
The appearance marks a reunion between Wayans and Grier, who were both part of the iconic Fox sketch comedy series In Living Color, which ran from 1990 to 1994 and helped launch the careers of several major comedy stars.
St. Denis Medical is a mockumentary comedy about an underfunded, understaffed Oregon hospital, following the doctors and nurses who do their best to care for patients while navigating the chaos of their own personal and professional lives.
Season 3 will see romantic entanglements and personal struggles complicate relationships throughout the Emergency Department, pushing some of the St. Denis employees to the brink.
The series stars Wendi McLendon-Covey, David Alan Grier, Allison Tolman, Josh Lawson, Kahyun Kim, Mekki Leeper and Kaliko Kauahi. Eric Ledgin serves as showrunner and executive producer, with Justin Spitzer, Simon Heuer, Bridget Kyle and Vicky Luu also executive producing.
St. Denis Medical returns for Season 3 on Monday, November 2 at 8 p.m. on NBC. Seasons 1 and 2 are currently available to stream on Peacock.
