Hulu has unveiled the trailer for its upcoming original film She Taught Love, a poignant drama directed by Nate Edwards. The film, which will be released in select theaters and on Hulu on September 27th, explores love, mortality, and self-discovery.

She Taught Love’s cast is led by Arsema Thomas (‘Queen Charlotte’) and Darrell Britt-Gibson (‘We Own This City’). Britt-Gibson, who also penned the screenplay, portrays Frank Cooper, a former star of the prestigious cable series “The Street.” Since leaving the show, Frank has been drifting through life, numbing his pain with women, alcohol, and drugs, while settling for stereotypical roles as gang members and drug dealers. However, his world is upended when he crosses paths with Mali Waters, played by Thomas, a dynamic sports agent who lives in the moment. The undeniable chemistry between Frank and Mali forces them to confront their deepest fears and desires as they navigate the complexities of their evolving relationship.

The ensemble cast includes ‘Insecure’ star Alexander Hodge, ‘The Good Place’ alum D’Arcy Carden, Edwin Lee Gibson, and ‘The Nun’ actress Taissa Farmiga. Together, they bring to life a story that balances humor and heartbreak, examining how love can flourish even in the most unexpected circumstances.

The film’s production team include Darrell Britt-Gibson and Jason Aidoo serving as executive producers. The film is produced by Sanjay M. Sharma, Milan Chakraborty, Hadley Klein, and Pete Van Auker.

She Taught Love is the latest project from Andscape, a Black content studio that delves into the richness of Black identity through the lens of sports and culture. Supported by the vast reach of The Walt Disney Company, Andscape’s diverse portfolio spans daily journalism, film, television, book publishing, and music.

She Taught Love is set to be a highlight of Hulu’s fall lineup. Be sure to catch the premiere on September 27th and experience a film that challenges us to love deeply and live fully.
