Why It Matters

The home release of Sinners marks the arrival of one of the year’s biggest box office hits and critical darlings to your living room. The film has earned a 97% Rotten Tomatoes score, with reviewers praising its blend of stunning visuals, infectious music, and original storytelling—making it the only horror film ever to land an “A” CinemaScore from audiences.

Box office-wise, Sinners continues to prove that original stories can thrive. After debuting at $48 million— the best opening weekend for an original film since Us—it’s soared past $350 million globally. While there’s been plenty of talk about its profitability due to its hefty production and marketing budgets, one thing’s for sure: Ryan Coogler’s Sinners has cemented its status as a 2025 standout and a major win for original horror.
