Sinqua Walls Joins White Men Can’t Jump Remake

Sinqua Walls is joining the White Men Can’t Jump remake as a lead opposite Jack Harlow, who is making his acting debut in the film. Walls and Harlow will take on the roles originated by Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson.

Calmatic, who recently directed the House Party reboot has been tapped to direct White Men Can’t Jump remake for 20th Century.

Kenya Barris and Doug Hall co-wrote the new script however details on the new storyline are unknown. They are expected to be in the vein of the original which centered on two street basketball hustlers (Snipes and Harrelson) who at first try to hustle each other, then team up for a bigger score around LA. The film which just celebrated its 30th anniversary at the 94th Academy Awards also starred Rosie Perez.

Ron Shelton directed the 1992 film that took in over $90 million at the box office and helped launch Harrelson’s movie career (he was transitioning from the TV show Cheers) and it continued the growth of Snipes’ movie career.

Barris is also producing the White Men Can’t Jump remake with Blake Griffin, Ryan Kalil and Noah Weinstein are executives producing through their Mortal Media banner. E. Brian Dobbins will also exec produce.

Production is set to start next month.
