Chicago-born sisters Kozi Kyles and Kyra Kyles are back with more seasonal scares. Myth Lab Entertainment has announced Season 2 of Home for the Holidays, its award-winning horror-comedy audio anthology series, with the debut episode “Invitation to the Cookout” now available on all podcast platforms.
The new season opens with NFLer-turned-entertainer Anthony “Spice” Adams in the lead role of Marcus, a charming but self-absorbed man who has been frozen out of his family’s gatherings for his habit of showing up empty-handed but leaving with ten to-go plates. La Donna Tittle ( The Chi), co-stars as Aunt Sugar, a relative from Marcus’s father’s side who extends an invitation to the titular cookout. Marcus quickly learns there is no such thing as a free lunch, in an episode the creators describe as blending the humor of Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins with the horror of Midsommar.
T.J. Pryor-Wells returns to weave the season’s tales together as the mysterious matriarch Greatmomma. Two additional episodes are set for Labor Day and Halloween release.
Season 1 of Home for the Holidays, which took on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve in episodes titled “The Dressing,” “All of the Lights” and “The Burning Bowl,” earned American Writing and NYC Podcast awards for best writing, fiction and humor and satire. That season featured voice talent including kittie KaBoom ( Cita from BET’s Cita’s World) and James Smillie of the Highlander TV series and BBC fame.
Co-written, directed and executive produced by the Kyles Sisters, Home for the Holidays is produced under Myth Lab Entertainment, a Black woman-owned production company based in Chicago. The sisters bring combined experience from Warner Bros., EBONY, JET, redbox and the Chicago Defender, among others.
“Invitation to the Cookout” is available now on all podcast platforms.
