NBC is set to premiere a fresh mockumentary-style sitcom this fall, adding “St. Denis Medical” to its Tuesday night lineup. From the same network that brought audiences “The Office” and “Parks and Recreation,” this new series is a blend of humor and heart set within the chaotic world of an emergency room.
NBC recently released the first trailer for “St. Denis Medical,” showcasing the series’ unique approach to balancing serious ER situations with lighthearted, comedic moments. The show is set in the fictional St. Denis Medical, an underfunded and understaffed hospital in Oregon. At the heart of the series is supervising nurse Alex, played by Allison Tolman, who is depicted as the glue holding the hospital together. The trailer features Alex saving a woman who collapses in the parking lot and sharing a touching moment with the woman’s husband, highlighting the blend of drama and comedy the series aims to achieve.
Wendi McLendon-Covey stars as Joyce, the hospital’s executive director and a former oncology surgeon, David Alan Grier as Dr. Ron, Josh Lawson as a quirky doctor, Kahyun Kim as a dedicated nurse, and Mekki Leeper as a new, somewhat awkward floor nurse. Kaliko Kauahi also joins the cast

The series is co-created by NBC alum Justin Spitzer, known for his work on “Superstore” and “American Auto,” and Eric Ledgin, a writer from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.” Together, they aim to deliver a comedy that resonates with fans of both medical dramas and workplace comedies. The premiere episode is directed by Ruben Fleischer, who has previously worked on “Superstore” and the “Zombieland” films.
“St. Denis Medical” is set to debut on Tuesday, November 12, at 8/7c on NBC, exactly one week after Election Day. The first season will consist of 18 episodes, offering plenty of opportunities for audiences to connect with the quirky staff of St. Denis Medical and their daily escapades.
