Starz has officially greenlit a fifth season for its hit drama series “Power Book III: Raising Kanan,” following the conclusion of its explosive third season and amid the ongoing production of season four in New York.
The decision to renew the prequel series comes as no surprise given its dedicated fan base and the network’s commitment to expanding the “Power” universe. “Raising Kanan” delves into the early life of Kanan Stark, a character beloved by fans of the flagship series, exploring his transformation from a naive teenager to a ruthless villain. The third season concluded with a gripping showdown between Kanan and Raq, resulting in unexpected deaths and the return of a fan-favorite character.

President of Original Programming for Starz, Kathryn Busby, expressed excitement about the continued storytelling within the “Power” universe, noting the exploration of Kanan’s backstory and the potential intersections with other beloved characters during this prequel era.
In addition to the renewal of “Raising Kanan,” Starz announced its development of a new prequel series titled “Origins,” which will delve into the backstory of iconic characters Ghost and Tommy. This marks the fourth spin-off of the immensely popular “Power” series, joining “Power Book II: Ghost” and “Power Book IV: Force.”
Creator Sascha Penn is set to return as showrunner and executive producer for the fifth season of “Power Book III: Raising Kanan,” alongside executive producers Courtney A. Kemp, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Mark Canton, and Chris Selak.
