Susan Kelechi Watson has been cast in the untitled Apple TV thriller starring previously announced Dakota Fanning, Stellan Skarsgård, Daryl McCormack, Grace Gummer and Joely Richardson.
In the series, Fanning stars as an undercover Treasury agent embedded in a multi-billion-dollar international conglomerate with world-changing political and criminal tentacles. Her mission becomes complicated when she grows conflicted between her assignment and a belief that her principal target, the heir apparent to all that corrupt power, is at his core a good man and worthy of her love.
Watson will play Dawn, a handler for U.S. governmental covert operations McCormack plays Kar, the reluctant heir to the conglomerate. Skarsgård plays Brandt, the formidable head of the company and Kar’s father figure. Gummer plays Juliana, Brandt’s oldest child, while Richardson plays Syd, Brandt’s wife.
The series hails from creator, showrunner and executive producer Alex Cary, known for A Spy Among Friends and Homeland, under his overall deal with Sony Pictures Television and his FLW Productions banner. Julie Gardner executive produces for Bad Wolf America, and Elle Fanning executive produces alongside Dakota Fanning and Brittany Kahan Ward of Lewellen Pictures. Kari Skogland will direct and executive produce.
Watson is best known for playing Beth Pearson on NBC’s This Is Us, and most recently recurred in High Potential and the limited series The Residence for Netflix. She will next be seen in Netflix’s Don’t Ever Wonder, directed by Eugene Ashe.
