There’s no place like home…right?
Maverick Entertainment, a prominent independent studio with a knack for bringing vibrant Black Cinema to the forefront, has just dropped the trailer on their upcoming release, “The Comeback.” Led by Taye Diggs and Apryl Jones, the upcoming family comedy will premiere on Peacock beginning August 25th.
“The Comeback” centers on Jeff Murray (Diggs) and his spirited wife, Tisa Murray (Jones), as they make a bold move back to hometown in Atlanta.
It however takes an unexpected turn when the Murray family’s seemingly perfect plan collides with a whirlwind of family issues: a mom’s new boyfriend and a parade of ex-lovers eagerly awaiting their return. The resulting chaos will have audiences rolling in the aisles while sympathizing with the relatable challenges faced by this lovable and quirky family.
Judi Johnson, Karon Joseph Riley and Austin Elle Fisher also star in the film. Ariel Hairston directed the comedy based on J. Carter’s script.
“After holding onto the script for five years,” said J. Carter, “I found the perfect actors in Taye Diggs and Apryl Jones to portray Jeff and Tisa Murray, making their characters relatable to everyone,” transcending race, background, and beliefs.
