Lifetime is doubling down on love, drama, and second chances with its newest addition to the Terry McMillan Presents slate. The network has acquired His, Hers & Ours, a romantic dramedy headlined by Taye Diggs (All American), Lesley-Ann Brandt (Lucifer, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live), and Aimee Garcia (Dexter, Lucifer). A premiere date is still under wraps, but it’s clear Lifetime has another emotionally rich, grown folks’ love story on the way.
Diggs and Brandt not only star but also serve as executive producers on the film, which is part of the ongoing partnership between Lifetime and the Waiting to Exhale author. His, Hers & Ours is the third installment in the “Terry McMillan Presents” franchise, following Tempted by Love and Forever, with McMillan once again backing the project as an executive producer.
The Premise: Sparks Fly, But It’s Complicated
In His, Hers & Ours, Diggs plays Darius, a single father whose world flips upside down when he finds his teenage daughter in bed with her boyfriend, Chase. Darius wastes no time kicking the boy out, but he doesn’t expect what’s coming next: a furious knock on the door from Kelly (Brandt)—Chase’s mother and a single parent herself. What starts as a heated confrontation between two protective parents takes a surprising turn when chemistry enters the chat.
Forced to navigate co-parenting tensions as their teens stay involved, Darius and Kelly find themselves drawn to each other in ways they didn’t anticipate. Between awkward family dinners and stolen glances at birthday parties, their secret romance begins to bloom. But love gets tricky when kids are involved—and when it comes time to share the truth, both have to weigh what they’re willing to risk in the name of love and family.
Garcia adds levity to the mix as Sofia, Kelly’s best friend and an event planner who quickly picks up on the vibes her friend is trying to keep low-key.
His, Hers & Ours is produced by The Ninth House in association with Motion Entertainment, a WPP Media company. The film is directed by Patricia Cuffie-Jones from a script by Bart Baker. Executive producers include Diggs, Brandt, McMillan, and Charles Murray, alongside Richard Foster and Chet Fenster for Motion Entertainment. Autumn Federici, Jake Helgren, and Emmy-winning producer Shelby Stone round out the producing team for The Ninth House.
