Taylor Russell Joins Michael B. Jordan in ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’ Remake

After an extensive search, Michael B. Jordan has found his leading lady for the highly anticipated The Thomas Crown Affair remake. According to Deadline, rising star Taylor Russell has officially landed the coveted co-starring role opposite Jordan, who is set to direct, produce, and star in the film for Amazon MGM Studios.

Russell, known for her breakout performances in Bones and All and Waves, went through a rigorous audition process that culminated in a screen test with Jordan in London earlier this year. That final meeting sealed the deal, with Russell now preparing to join Jordan in London this summer as production kicks off.

The casting of Russell continues a legacy of strong female leads in The Thomas Crown Affair films. The 1968 original starred Faye Dunaway opposite Steve McQueen, while the 1999 remake featured Rene Russo alongside Pierce Brosnan. Both films cemented their leading women as Hollywood powerhouses, and Russell now steps into a role that has historically launched careers into the stratosphere.

With Jordan viewing this film as a potential modern alternative to the James Bond franchise, Russell’s character could be the closest thing to a contemporary “Bond girl”—but with a new twist. Rather than simply a love interest, her role as the investigator hot on Crown’s trail will demand intellect, charm, and on-screen chemistry that sizzles.

With Jordan at the helm, The Thomas Crown Affair marks the third reimagining of the stylish caper film, following the McQueen-Dunaway and Brosnan-Russo versions. While plot details remain under wraps, the film’s combination of sleek heists, romantic tension, and psychological mind games has made it one of the most intriguing projects in development.

The script is written by Drew Pearce, with previous drafts by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson. Patrick McCormick and Marc Toberoff will serve as producers alongside Jordan’s Outlier Society, with Alan Trustman, writer of the original 1968 film, on board as an executive producer.

With production set to begin this summer, The Thomas Crown Affair is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated films of the coming year. Now that Jordan and Russell are locked in, all eyes will be on how this dynamic duo brings a fresh, electric energy to the legendary story.

Stay tuned—because this heist is about to get very interesting.
