SHE THE PEOPLE

Tyler Perry is bringing a new political comedy to Netflix with She The People, and he’s assembled a powerhouse cast to bring the story to life. Led by Terri J. Vaughn, the series also stars Jade Novah, Drew Olivia Tillman, Tré Boyd, Dyon Brooks, and Family Matters legend Jo Marie Payton.

Perry, who serves as writer, director, and producer, is teaming up with former Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, who is on board as an executive producer. Niya Palmer also executive produces, with Angi Bones and Tony Strickland producing for Tyler Perry Studios.

The series follows Lieutenant Governor candidate Antoinette Dunkerson (Vaughn), who successfully wins her campaign but soon finds herself navigating a political minefield. As she attempts to thrive under a sexist and condescending governor, Antoinette also struggles to keep her family in check, now that they are all under public scrutiny.

Netflix unveiled the project during a presentation on Wednesday, which also included updates on Perry’s expanding slate at the streamer. A first-look image of Vaughn as Antoinette Dunkerson was released, teasing the dynamic and humorous ride ahead.

Perry’s ongoing collaboration with Netflix has resulted in multiple projects, and She The People is set to continue his track record of delivering engaging, character-driven storytelling.

Stay tuned for more updates, including the official release date and trailer.
