‘The Bad Guys 2’ Gets 2025 Release Date — Craig Robinson, Zazie Beetz to Reprise Role

Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Animation have officially confirmed the release date for the sequel to their 2022 blockbuster hit, The Bad Guys. Set to hit theaters on August 1, 2025, The Bad Guys 2 will continue the wild and adventurous journey of the criminal crew.

The sequel will once again be based on Aaron Blabey’s popular book series and will reunite the original filmmakers and voice cast.

Directed by Pierre Perifel, with Damon Ross producing, The Bad Guys 2 will delve deeper into the lives of the reformed animal outlaws as they navigate their newfound roles as “Good Guys.” However, their peaceful retirement is short-lived when they are reluctantly pulled back into the world of crime by an all-female squad of criminals, setting the stage for another thrilling heist.

Returning to voice their iconic characters are a star-studded cast including Oscar winner Sam Rockwell as Mr. Wolf, Marc Maron as Mr. Snake, Craig Robinson as Mr. Shark, Grammy winner Anthony Ramos as Mr. Piranha, and Golden Globe winner Awkwafina as Ms. Tarantula, aka “Webs.” Additionally, Zazie Beetz, Richard Ayoade, Alex Borstein, and Lilly Singh will reprise their roles from the first film.

Following the success of the first film, which grossed an impressive $250.4 million worldwide and garnered critical acclaim, fans have been eagerly awaiting the next installment.

The announcement of The Bad Guys 2 comes as Universal Pictures continues to solidify its partnership with DreamWorks Animation, with recent successes such as Kung Fu Panda 4, which is on track to surpass $300 million worldwide. Upcoming projects from the studio include adaptations of popular literary works such as The Wild Robot and Dog Man.
