Apple TV+ is gearing up for the return of its acclaimed dramedy series, “The Big Door Prize,” with a highly-anticipated Season 2 set to premiere on April 24.
In a recent presentation for the Television Critics Association, Apple TV+ unveiled the first images from Season 2 of the dramedy series, hinting at significant changes in store for the residents of Deerfield. The new season will delve deeper into the mysteries surrounding the MORPHO machine, which teased a “next stage” for the characters’ quest for fulfillment in the Season 1 finale. According to O’Dowd, “I think David has constructed a world that feels self-contained, but has so much potential to grow because he’s got all of these characters.”
Joining O’Dowd in the ensemble cast are Gabrielle Dennis as Cass, Josh Segarra as Giorgio, Crystal R. Fox as Izzy, Djouliet Amara as Trina, Sammy Fourlas as Jacob, Ally Maki as Hana, and Damon Gupton as Father Reuben. Their characters will face new challenges and relationships as they grapple with the consequences of their visions from the MORPHO machine.
Showrunner David West Read, who developed the series based on M.O. Walsh’s novel, expressed confidence in the show’s ability to evolve over multiple seasons. He stated, “There’s a moment when Damon Gupton, who plays the priest really beautifully, learns of his potential, and the way that he plays it and the consequences of that potential, absolutely killed me.”
With the return of the same creative team that brought Season 1 to life, including directors Steven Tsuchida, Heather Jack, Jordan Canning, Satya Bhabha, and Declan Lowney, fans can expect a seamless continuation of the story they’ve come to love.
