Netflix is bringing The Gentlemen back for another round of crime, power plays and international intrigue.
Guy Ritchie’s hit series will return for Season 2 on September 3, with Theo James and Kaya Scodelario reprising their roles as Eddie Horniman and Susie Glass. Netflix has also released a first-look teaser from the upcoming season.
Season 2 picks up one year after Eddie and Susie joined forces to take over Bobby Glass’ criminal empire. After establishing themselves in the British underworld, the pair are now looking to expand their operation overseas. The new season will take the story from the English countryside to the Italian lakes, where Eddie and Susie attempt to establish a foothold in Italy’s criminal underworld.
Their expansion brings them into contact with Marco Moretti (Sergio Castellitto), a powerful Italian crime boss described as ruthless and elegant, and Cico Maldini (Michele Morrone), a fixer brought in to help Eddie and Susie navigate their new surroundings. The move overseas also puts Eddie’s growing ambitions under the spotlight. As he becomes increasingly comfortable with his position within the criminal world, he will have to determine how far he is willing to go to build his empire.
The season will also continue to explore the complicated relationship between Eddie and Susie, whose partnership has become one of the central dynamics of the series.
Giancarlo Esposito is among the returning cast members, reprising his role as Stanley Johnston. Also returning are Ray Winstone as Bobby Glass, Daniel Ings, Joely Richardson, Vinnie Jones, Jasmine Blackborow, Michael Vu, Harry Goodwins, Ruby Sear and Pearce Quigley.
Season 2 will introduce several new cast members, including Hugh Bonneville, Benjamin Clementine, Benedetta Porcaroli, Amra Mallassi, Tyler Conti, professional boxer Chris Eubank Jr. and broadcaster and entrepreneur Maya Jama.
The first season ended with Bobby revealing that his apparent plan to sell his criminal operation had been a test to determine whether Eddie and Susie could successfully work together. Eddie ultimately embraced his darker side, killing a rival and cementing his place alongside Susie at the top of the operation.
Season 2 will pick up from there as the pair attempt to expand their influence while dealing with new threats and increasingly complicated alliances.
“The stakes are heightened, the power dynamics are more precarious,” Ritchie previously said of the new season. “I’m thrilled to be collaborating once again with this exceptional cast and crew.”
The Gentlemen Season 2 premieres September 3, exclusively on Netflix.
