According to Deadline, the original Power series is leaving Hulu and heading to Netflix in the U.S. this November, giving American audiences a new home to stream Courtney A. Kemp’s acclaimed crime drama.
As part of a larger licensing deal between Lionsgate Television and Netflix, the streamer also acquired international rights to Power, Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan and Power Book IV: Force, making all four series available to global audiences on the platform beginning November 2026. Those three spinoffs will remain exclusively on Starz in the U.S.
For those new to the franchise, Power is an American crime drama that ran for six seasons on Starz from 2014 to 2020. The series follows James “Ghost” St. Patrick, played by Omari Hardwick, a New York City nightclub owner living a double life as the kingpin behind one of the city’s most lucrative drug operations alongside his best friend Tommy Egan, played by Joseph Sikora. As Ghost’s legitimate business takes off, he dreams of leaving the game behind, a plan complicated by his reconnection with his high school sweetheart turned federal prosecutor Angela Valdes, played by Lela Loren, and his marriage to his wife Tasha, played by Naturi Naughton.
The franchise expanded into four spinoffs following the mothership’s conclusion. Power Book II: Ghost stars Michael Rainey Jr. as Tariq St. Patrick, Ghost and Tasha’s son, navigating the drug trade while trying to clear his mother’s name and fund his Ivy League education. Power Book III: Raising Kanan stars Mekai Curtis as a young Kanan Stark, tracing the origins of one of the original series’ most iconic characters in 1990s South Jamaica, Queens. Power Book IV: Force stars Joseph Sikora as Tommy Egan, who relocates to Chicago after the events of the original series and builds a new criminal empire from scratch.
The move follows the breakout success of Nemesis, Netflix’s original drama from Power creator Courtney Kemp, which logged 32.6 million views in its first month and a half after its May release and earned a second season renewal. The platform’s appetite for Kemp’s storytelling clearly made the Power acquisition a natural next step.
Starz remains the exclusive U.S. home to the broader Power universe. The upcoming offshoots Power: Origins and Power: Legacy are not part of the Netflix deal. Power: Raising Kanan is currently airing its fifth and final season on Starz, heading toward its series finale on August 7, while Power: Origins is currently in production with Spence Moore II as young Ghost, Charlie Mann as young Tommy and Mekai Curtis reprising his role as Kanan.
The franchise is executive produced by Kemp through her production company End of Episode and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson through G-Unit Film & Television.
