Disney+ has released the trailer for A Proud Family Wizmas, a stop-motion holiday special premiering Saturday, November 14. The special follows Penny Proud after she accidentally destroys Christmas and reluctantly steps up to save the holiday for the children of Emilyville, and the world.
The trailer opens with city mayor and media mogul Wizard Kelly, known as “The Wizard,” declaring he’s rebranded Christmas into “Wizmas” for profit. Penny confronts Santa about the scheme at the mall, calling it “a made-up, fake holiday for Wizard Kelly to make even more money.” When Santa quits on the spot, handing Penny his beard and suit, she’s forced into the role herself, leading to chimney climbs, a trip to the North Pole, and mall chases throughout the stop-motion special.
The special brings back the full returning cast, including Kyla Pratt as Penny Proud, Tommy Davidson as Oscar Proud, Paula Jai Parker as Trudy Proud, JoMarie Payton as Suga Mama, Cedric the Entertainer as Uncle Bobby, Karen Malina White as Dijonay Jones, Soleil Moon Frye as Zoey Howzer, and Melissa De Sousa as Sunset Boulevardez, continuing one of animation’s longest-running Black family ensembles. New guest voices include Anderson .Paak, Lil Rel Howery, JB Smoove, Karlous Miller, Tone Loc, Earthquake, Luenell, and Affion Crockett, alongside the return of Gabrielle Union as Talia Rogue.
A Proud Family Wizmas is produced by Disney Television Animation and directed by series creator Bruce W. Smith, with a script from executive producer Ralph Farquhar and co-direction from David Brooks alongside Portland-based stop-motion studio HouseSpecial. Composer Kurt Farquhar returns with six new original songs for the special.
The special arrives following the fourth and final season of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, which wrapped this past summer, making Wizmas less of a side story and more of a proper sendoff for the franchise’s current era, one last trip to Emilyville before the Proud family’s latest chapter officially closes.
