Clock back in, because the galaxy’s most chaotic clinic is reopening for business.
Prime Video just dropped the first look at The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy Season 2, confirming all eight episodes will premiere May 27, 2025—and things are only getting weirder.
Created by Russian Doll alum and Emmy winner Cirocco Dunlap, the animated series returns with more extraterrestrial medical madness, intergalactic romance, cyborg conspiracies, and enough alien goo to fill a black hole. Dunlap also returns as showrunner, with Maya Rudolph and Natasha Lyonne producing under their Animal Pictures banner.
Keke Palmer and Stephanie Hsu lead the voice cast as ride-or-die space surgeons Dr. Klak and Dr. Sleech, who rose to universal fame after barely saving the galaxy from an anxiety-ingesting parasite in Season 1. Now they’re back in the OR—but while the crew is riding high off that win, a nosy cyborg journalist begins digging into Sleech’s past, unearthing secrets that could disrupt more than just the hospital workflow.
Season 2 picks up with a suspicious scoop, but the deeper the journalist digs, the messier it gets—threatening Sleech’s legacy and her friendship with Klak. Along the way, expect everything from mutated love triangles in space to parasitic therapy, time loop malpractice, and a showdown with mind control treatment gone rogue.
Returning cast includes:
Stephanie Hsu, Keke Palmer, Kieran Culkin, Sam Smith, Maya Rudolph, Natasha Lyonne, Tracee Ellis Ross, Abbi Jacobson, Andrew Dismukes, Bowen Yang, Gary Anthony Williams, Lennon Parham, Jay Ellis, Kemah Bob, and John Waters.
The new trailer promises a season full of wild ride-alongs with the hospital’s residents: Nurse Tup (voiced by Lyonne) embraces her inner cowgirl while lassoing alien creatures, and Dr. Vlam (Rudolph) navigates robo-drama with her own kind. Meanwhile, Dr. Sleech and Dr. Azel (Smith) get uncomfortably close—literally trapped together in a see-through tube. And yes, it looks like all the Culkin brothers are along for the ride.
Though Season 1 quietly slid under the radar when it dropped last year, it didn’t go unnoticed. It earned a strong 94% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes and became a word-of-mouth hit for its whip-smart worldbuilding and dry humor.
Natasha Lyonne, who voices Tup and serves as EP, previously called the show “extraordinary,” telling Collider:
“I was so obsessed with Cirocco’s sci-fi brain and her sense of humor… She’s deeply compassionate and aware of the human condition, but she spins it into these absurd, expansive worlds. I’d do anything for her.”
With Robin Eisenberg’s trippy visual aesthetic back in full swing and Titmouse (Star Trek: Lower Decks) once again leading animation, Season 2 is shaping up to be just as bold and bizarre as the first—maybe even more.
Season 2 of The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy premieres Tuesday, May 27, exclusively on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories.
