Tia Mowry to Star and Executive Producer of ‘Single Black Tenant’ for Lifetime

The thriller, inspired by actual events, is set to premiere June 27 as part of Lifetime’s Ripped From The Headlines slate.

Tia Mowry is heading back to Lifetime. The actress and producer is set to star in and executive produce Single Black Tenant, a new thriller premiering June 27 at 8/7c as part of the network’s Ripped From The Headlines programming slate.

Inspired by actual events, the film follows Esme Williams, played by Mowry, a woman who finally catches a break after years of financial struggle by landing an affordable apartment in a quiet Cleveland neighborhood. Her relief is short-lived, however, as she begins to suspect her landlord Angie may have murdered the property’s real owner and is actively working to frame her for the crime. As disturbing clues pile up, including erratic behavior from Angie and the discovery of blood-soaked rags in a vacant unit upstairs, Esme takes matters into her own hands when police refuse to intervene.

Mowry is no stranger to Lifetime, having collaborated with the network on several projects over the years, most recently starring in and executive producing A Very Merry Beauty Salon in 2024. She is best known for her roles in Family Reunion and The Game.

Single Black Tenant is produced by Bruce Harvey for CMW Mountain Productions Inc. in association with Studio TF1 America. Timothy O. Johnson, Laurie Pozmantier, Stacy Mandelberg, and Mowry serve as executive producers. Stacey N. Harding directs from a script written by Yuri Baranovsky and Angela Gulner.
