The fifth and final season premieres June 12 on Starz
The question that had Power Book III: Raising Kanan fans on edge since the Season 4 finale has been answered. Raq is alive. The first trailer for the fifth and final season of the hit Starz crime drama confirms that Patina Miller’s Raquel Thomas survived her son’s attempt on her life — and she is not in a forgiving mood.
“You ain’t never have an enemy like me, Kanan,” Raq tells him in the trailer. Kanan fires back: “I’ve had you as an enemy my whole life.”
The trailer sets up a brutal final chapter for the Power prequel series, with Kanan (Mekai Curtis) stepping fully into his ruthlessness as he builds a new empire alongside Breeze (Shameik Moore) and their alliance with Snaps (Wendell Pierce) and Pop (Erika Woods). A tense exchange between Kanan and mob figure Stefano Marchetti (Tony Danza) also hints that Raq’s life may still be in danger from multiple fronts.
The season picks up with Kanan solidifying his place in the Queens drug game, while the Thomas family faces the collapse of their reign, Unique (Joey Bada$$) fights to preserve his legacy, and the Mafia maneuvers behind the scenes. As the official synopsis puts it, this isn’t the end for Kanan Stark — it’s just the beginning, with the season leading directly into the next Power Universe prequel, Power: Origins, which will feature Curtis alongside young Ghost (Spence Moore II) and Tommy (Charlie Mann).
The full cast also includes London Brown, Malcolm Mays, Hailey Kilgore, Joe Pantoliano, and Leslie Grossman. The series is created and showrun by Sascha Penn and executive produced by Power creator Courtney A. Kemp, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, and Mark Canton. Lionsgate Television produces for Starz.
Power Book III: Raising Kanan Season 5 premieres Friday, June 12 on Starz, with new episodes rolling out weekly.
