Prime Video Sets Release Date For Tiwa Savage’s Acting Debut ‘Water & Garri’

Afrobeats sensation Tiwa Savage is stepping into the world of acting with her debut role in the film “Water & Garri.” The movie is set to premiere on Prime Video on May 10.

Directed by Meji Alabi, “Water & Garri” follows the story of Aisha, portrayed by Savage, an ambitious fashion designer who returns to her native country after a decade in the U.S. due to a family tragedy. However, she finds a changed landscape marked by escalating violence and tension. As Aisha reconnects with her roots, she must confront her past, including old relationships and personal guilt.

Filmed in Cape Coast, Ghana, the movie boasts a talented cast including Mike Afolarin, Andrew Bunting, and Jemima Osunde alongside Savage. The production is a collaboration between Everything Savage, Unbound Studios, and JM Films, with executive producers including Savage herself.

Savage expressed her excitement about the project, stating, “Developing and shooting my film from an idea to launching globally on Prime Video is a dream fulfilled. I am excited for my fans and newer audiences to experience this vulnerable side of me that I have never shown.”
