Daphne Maxwell Reid and Vernee Watson-Johnson who played on the original Fresh Prince of Bel-Air series, are reuniting on Peacock’s Bel-Air.
Reid and Watson-Johnson will guest star on the dramatic reimagining series under new characters Helen and Janice, respectively, who are members of the Art Council Board of Trustee. In the original 90s sitcom Reid played Will’s (second) Aunt Viv, while Watson-Johnson played his mom.
They will appear in the ninth episode of Bel-Air, which streams Friday, March 24.
“Bel-Air” is a one-hour drama series on Peacock, spanning 10 episodes. It offers a new take on “Fresh Prince,” showing the main character Will Smith’s (Jabari Banks) journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air. As these two worlds collide, Will reckons with the power of second chances while navigating the conflicts, emotions, and biases of a world far different from the only one he’s ever known.
