Terri J. Vaughn leads the new series alongside Jade Novah, Drew Olivia Tillman, Tré Boyd, Dyon Brooks, and Jo Marie Payton.
Netflix has officially unveiled the trailer for Tyler Perry’s latest series She The People, a sharp-witted political comedy set to premiere in two parts. Part 1 will debut on May 22, 2025, with Part 2 arriving on August 14, 2025.
Led by Terri J. Vaughn, the series follows Antoinette Dunkerson, a newly elected lieutenant governor whose historic win quickly turns into a whirlwind of political pressure, media scrutiny, and family chaos. The cast also includes Jade Novah, Drew Olivia Tillman, Tré Boyd, Dyon Brooks, and Jo Marie Payton, best known for her role as Harriette Winslow in Family Matters.
Created, written, and directed by Perry, She The People adds a notable name to its producing team: former Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, who joins as an executive producer alongside Niya Palmer. Longtime Perry collaborators Angi Bones and Tony Strickland produce for Tyler Perry Studios.
The newly released trailer sets the tone for what’s to come — a blend of humor, heart, and hard truths about navigating politics as a Black woman in power. As Antoinette faces off with a sexist and dismissive governor, she’s also managing a family thrust into the public eye and under constant pressure to perform.
The series was first announced during Netflix’s spring preview, where the streamer also shared a first-look image of Vaughn in character — commanding, composed, and clearly not here for political games.
She The People continues Perry’s growing partnership with Netflix, where he’s been steadily building a slate that spans drama, romance, and now, political satire. With its bold lead, timely premise, and multi-generational cast, the series is shaping up to be one of Perry’s most dynamic projects to date.
