Usher Developing TV Series Narrating the Story of Black Love in Atlanta Through His Music

Following a captivating Super Bowl halftime performance, Usher is making his way from the big stage to the small screen. The eight-time Grammy winner has teamed up with UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, to develop a drama series.

The executive producers on board for this project include Selwyn Seyfu Hinds, Katie Zucker of Mad Massive Entertainment, and Kenny Meiselas from KMei Productions.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Usher stated, “My 30-year catalog has resonated with so many people no matter where they were in their lives. I’m happy to be working with UCP to bring the music to life. I hope the series resonates with you the way my music continues to.”

According to the official logline, the drama will revolve around “Black love in Atlanta and individuals looking to find a place to call home. The series will explore music, style, sex, romance, and secrets that threaten to tear relationships apart.”

While it’s too early to confirm, there’s a possibility that Usher might make an appearance in the show. Given his extensive experience in both films and TV shows, the idea of him joining the project isn’t out of the question—provided he can find time off from his upcoming tour.

Usher recently concluded his two-year “My Way: The Las Vegas Residency” and is gearing up for his 24-city tour, “Past Present Future,” starting on August 20 in Washington, DC. The tour, covering cities like Atlanta, Miami, New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago, will conclude on October 29. Additionally, he released his ninth album, “Coming Home,” earlier this month.
