Vertical secured the distribution deal for the journalism-world thriller “Cold Copy.” The film, which stars Tracee Ellis Ross, Bel Powley, Jacob Tremblay, and Nesta Cooper, explores the boundaries of truth and success in journalism when one is pushed to their limits.
Roxine Helberg penned the script and is making her feature directorial debut in the film which also stars James Tupper and Ekaterina Baker.

Cold Copy film explores the story of two determined women who push the boundaries of journalistic integrity in pursuit of a captivating and scandalous exposé. Ambitious journalism student Mia Scott (Bel Powley) competes for the attention of esteemed news reporter Diane Heger (Tracee Ellis Ross) and decides to manipulate the story of a precocious teen, Igor Nowak (Jacob Tremblay), to impress her.
The film’s producers include Roxine Helberg, Justin Lothrop, Brent Stiefel, and Daniel Bekerman, with Charles Stiefel, Daneen Stiefel, Julie Goldstein, Shivani Rawat, Lee Broda, and Kyle Stroud serving as executive producers.
Roxine Helberg, the director, expressed her excitement about the project, saying, “In making my first feature, I set out to explore the personal cost of the manipulation of truth. I’m thrilled to have Vertical by my side, who embraced our singular vision for the film and are eager to share it with the world.”

The deal for “Cold Copy” was negotiated by Peter Jarowey and Tony Piantedosi on behalf of Vertical, with UTA’s Independent Film Group representing the production.
Cold Copy recently had its world premiere at the 2023 Tribeca Festival. Although a specific release date is yet to be announced, it is scheduled to hit select theaters and video-on-demand platforms in regions including North America, the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand in early 2024. International sales are being handled by Fortitude International.
