Rappers Vic Mensa and Da Brat join Lena Waithe’s The Chi for its fourth season.
Mensa joins in a recurring capacity as Jamal. He is a passionate but high-strung man who is fighting to get help for his girlfriend and younger sister. His efforts place him at odds with Trig (Luke James) and Tracy (guest star Tai Davis).

Da Brat will guest star as LaPorsha, a truck driver who is just as comfortable passing through beds as she is through state lines. Her arrival in town will impact the Williams family.
Created and executive produced by Lena Waithe, The Chi is a timely coming-of-age story that follows a group of residents on the South Side of Chicago who become linked by coincidence but bonded by the need for connection and redemption.
The cast of the fourth season includes Jacob Latimore, Alex Hibbert, Yolonda Ross, Shamon Brown Jr., Michael V. Epps, and Birgundi Baker. Luke James and Curtiss Cook have been upped to series regulars, while Kandi Burruss and La La Anthony are set to return as guest stars, along with Tabitha Brown and Jason Weaver.
The Chi is currently in production on the 10 episodes season in Chicago.
Aaron Kaplan, Rick Famuyiwa, Derek Dudley, and Shelby Stone of Freedom Road Productions, Rishi Rajani, president of Hillman Grad Productions, and showrunner Justin Hillian serve as executive producers for season four. The Chi is produced by 20th Television.
The fourth season of The Chi, will premiere on May 23rd at 9 p.m.
