The first trailer is here for Search Party: Where’s PawPaw?, the family comedy marking Victoria Monai Richards’s directorial debut, ahead of its November 13 theatrical release.
Richards, known for her role on HBO’s Rap Sh!t, directs, co-writes, and stars in the film alongside Nijah Brenea, Daisy Fernandez, Tichina Arnold, and Tommy Davidson, who plays the title character, PawPaw. Set in the early 2000s and rated PG, the film follows college student Noble Williams (Richards), who rushes home after an alarming call about her PawPaw’s declining health, only to discover he’s gone missing from his nursing home. Joined by her two best friends and her chaotic Auntie (Arnold), Noble sets out to track him down using little more than a handful of strange clues and even stranger characters before time runs out.
Richards co-wrote the screenplay with Sherrie Richards. The film comes from Faith Plus Works Productions, a newly launched family-owned production company focused on joyful, family-centered storytelling, in partnership with the Harold Brothers. It’s produced by Sherrie Richards, Victoria Monai Richards, Joseph Harold, Joel Harold, and Grant Gilmore, with Sherrie Richards, King Hoey, and Tichina Arnold serving as executive producers.
Search Party: Where’s PawPaw? hits theaters November 13.
