The 2024 Virtuous Con, in its 4th Annual Black History Month Event, is set to run from February 23 – 25, 2024, accessible through the Virtuous Con website. This year’s theme, “The Future is Ours,” focuses on celebrating the achievements of Black creators in the independent creative space. The virtual convention is a hub for science fiction and comic culture, dedicated to showcasing and supporting independent Black artists and creators worldwide.
The event kicks off with a free Opening Night, offering attendees a glimpse into the larger convention. Virtuous Con distinguishes itself by providing an authentic and interactive experience, allowing fans to engage with and support artists in real time.
Renowned authors, including Victor Lavalle, N.K. Jemisin, Malcolm Barrett, Vashti Harrison, Daniel José Older, and Tananarive Due will grace the event. Screenwriters like Rodney Barnes, Latoya Morgan, Brandon Easton, and Cody Ziglar known for their work in various popular series, will also be part of the lineup.
Award-winning comic creators, such as Odunze Whyte Oguguo, David Crownson, Alitha Martinez, and Roye Okupe, will also be in attendance. The event’s cornerstone is the Virtuous Con Virtual Vendor Rooms, with four virtual “floors” featuring independent artists, authors, and illustrators dedicated to science fiction, fantasy, comic books, and anime. The vendor floor, hosted on Remo.co, offers expanded programming within the showroom floor, including tutorials and discussions.
Notable vendors, including Sarah Jefferson Carter, Dream Fury Comics, ARWBooks, Jocelyn Short, KEEF CROSS, and Kingwood Comics, will be showcasing their work. The convention is sponsored by Patron Hunt, Lion Forge Entertainment, Wacom, Adobe, Inc, Best Jacket Press, and Otaku Noir.
