PBS KIDS has released the official trailer for Weather Hunters, the upcoming animated STEM series created by Al Roker. Originally scheduled for July 7, the premiere date has been moved to September 8, 2025. The series will debut on PBS KIDS in both English and Spanish .
Weather Hunters follows 8-year-old Lily Hunter, a curious and observant weather detective, as she explores weather phenomena alongside her family. The voice cast includes Al Roker as Al Hunter, Lily’s father; Tandi Fomukong as Lily; Holly Robinson Peete as Dot Hunter, Lily’s mother; Kapri Ladd as Corky, Lily’s sister; Lorenzo Ross as Benny, Lily’s brother; Sheryl Lee Ralph as Ms. Joyce, the family’s neighbor; and LeVar Burton as Wallace Reed Hunter, Lily’s great-grandfather .
The series aims to support children’s learning about Earth science and meteorology through engaging storytelling and characters. Each 22-minute episode combines adventure and comedy to cultivate awareness and curiosity about how weather and climate impact individuals, communities, and the global society.
The theme song for Weather Hunters is performed by actress Yvette Nicole Brown, adding a lively touch to the show’s educational content.
Weather Hunters is produced by Al Roker Entertainment in collaboration with Island of Misfits in Nova Scotia, Canada, and Makefully Studios. The series is made possible with funding from the Anne Ray Foundation, PBS, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting .
