Wendy Raquel Robinson has been cast in a recurring role on the new Wayans’ Family sitcom ‘Poppa’s House.’ The series, which stars the father-son duo Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr., is set to premiere Monday, Oct. 21 at 8:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
‘Poppa’s House,’ produced by CBS Studios, follows ‘legendary talk radio host and happily divorced ‘Poppa’ (Wayans)’ whose worldview is put to the test both at work and at home. As per the official logline: “He finds himself challenged at work when a new female co-host Ivy (Essence Atkins) is hired, and at home where he’s still parenting his adult son (Wayans Jr.), a brilliant dreamer striving to balance his passion with being a responsible father and husband.”
Robinson will portray Poppa’s ex-wife and Junior’s mom, adding another layer to the complex family dynamics. Tetona Jackson is also confirmed in the cast as Nina, Junior’s wife.
In a teaser released by CBS in May, viewers g0t a taste of the show’s dynamic humor. Damon Wayans Jr. quips, “is it just me, or does it feel like one big family?” to which Damon Wayans, as Poppa, replies, “That’s definitely on brand for us.” This exchange perfectly captures the tone of ‘Poppa’s House,’ a show set to explore familial dynamics and modern challenges with a comedic twist.
Kevin Hench serves as executive producer. Directed by Andy Ackerman, the series promises energetic banter and sharp comedic timing, as previewed in the teaser.
