The cinematic adaptation, directed by Jon M. Chu, offers a fresh perspective on the magical land of Oz, delving into the untold story of the witchy feuds from “The Wizard of Oz.”

Based on the acclaimed Broadway musical, which itself draws inspiration from Gregory Maguire’s novel, “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West,” the film stars Erivo as Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch of the West, and Grande as Glinda the Good Witch. The narrative unfolds their unlikely friendship amidst political turmoil and a love triangle with Prince Fiyero, played by Jonathan Bailey.

The star-studded cast also includes Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard, Michelle Yeoh as Madam Morrible, Marissa Bode as Nessarose, and Ethan Slater as Boq. “Wicked: Part One” is set to grace the screens on November 27, with Part Two following on November 26, 2025.

The first trailer, premiered during the Super Bowl, captures the allure and enchantment of Oz in a groundbreaking way, offering viewers a tantalizing glimpse into a world never seen before. Notably, the teaser dances around the fact that it’s an adaptation of a musical, sparking curiosity among fans.

“Wicked” explores the transformative power of magic and friendship, presenting a captivating backstory to the iconic “Wizard of Oz” tale. The film, which wrapped up production in January, promises a fully immersive experience, steering clear of CGI and blue screens to bring the Emerald City to life authentically.

As anticipation builds for the November release, this teaser provides an exciting preview, offering fans a closer look at the characters and the magical world of Oz. With Broadway alums Grande and Erivo in leading roles and a stellar supporting cast, “Wicked” aims to cast a spell on audiences, bringing a new dimension to the beloved classic.
