Zazie Beetz of “Deadpool 2” fame and Elizabeth Debicki from “The Crown” are set to star in the upcoming sci-fi drama ‘This Blue Is Mine,’ marking the English-language debut of Brazilian director Iuli Gerbase. The film, described as a psychosexual sci-fi drama, has already garnered international attention, with HanWay Films launching its sales ahead of Cannes, and UTA Independent Film Group handling the U.S. distribution.

The storyline revolves around a family holiday in a tropical resort, disrupted by the arrival of Arthur’s mysterious new girlfriend, Ivy, played by Debicki. Beetz portrays Connie, Arthur’s daughter who is still reeling from a recent trauma. Ivy’s behavior takes a peculiar turn as she reveals herself to be an alien visiting Earth, leading to a series of events where reality blurs with fantasy, leaving the audience questioning the true nature of Ivy and Connie’s experiences.

Iuli Gerbase, acclaimed for her debut feature “The Pink Cloud,” brings her distinct storytelling style to “This Blue Is Mine,” combining elements of familial dynamics, sci-fi intrigue, and psychological depth. HanWay CEO Gabrielle Stewart comments on the film’s unique narrative and the chemistry between Debicki and Beetz, noting Debicki’s suitability for her role.

Production for “This Blue Is Mine” is scheduled to begin in August and September in Colombia, promising a visually captivating setting for the unfolding drama. The film’s launch adds to the excitement of the upcoming Cannes Film Festival, highlighting the evolving landscape of global cinema.
