Frank Adkinson Jr. of “Smile, My Online Valentine” and Candice Vernon from Warner Media/HBO and Hulu have announced their latest project, a time-bending comedy film titled “117 Years of Movie Bullsh*t.”

The film, a dark indie comedy, is written by Adkinson Jr. and Vernon, who also takes on the role of director. It delves into the journey of two aspiring stars navigating the problematic past of the entertainment industry. Joining them on screen are executive producer Blue Kimble along with Jesse C. Boyd, and Karen Obilom.

“117 Years of Movie Bullsh*t” is the debut project of Viral Productions LLC, a newly formed production company. The film, in development for two years, is a response to the industry’s historical lack of opportunities, driving Adkinson Jr. and Vernon to create their own narrative.

The story follows two Hollywood hopefuls who are transported back in time to the era of “Gone With the Wind” by the manipulative Dick Whitman, an old-school studio executive. As they struggle to return to the present, they find themselves repeatedly cast in stereotypical roles from past movies, confronting Hollywood’s problematic history.

Frank Adkinson Jr. shares, “There is so much to us that I feel like we don’t get to show audiences. We can tell amazing stories, we can show unique perspectives.”

Candice Vernon adds, “I wanted to create this film because I’m obsessed with old movies, time travel, technology, and advancing the black narrative through storytelling. So it felt only right to do it all at once.”

Blue Kimble reflects on the film’s purpose, stating, “We made this movie to show that we are more than what our stereotypes portray us to be in films. We are more than thugs, drug dealers, and basketball players.”

“117 Years of Movie Bullsh*t” is currently in post-production.
