Affion Crockett and Damaine Radcliff have taken on a new venture, independently financing and producing the upcoming comedy film, “A Hip Hop Story.” Born from their earlier YouTube parodies, the movie is a comedic take on a yoga-posing rap mogul, played by Crockett, who hilariously recounts saving hip hop from a supposed 9-1-1 state.

Directed by Radcliff, the film boasts a star-studded cast, including Cedric the Entertainer, Jevin Smith, Damien Dante Wayans, Lil Rel Howery, Wayne Brady, Lil Mama, and Norm Nixon, Jr. Each character contributes to the movie’s exploration of the crisis within Hip Hop culture.

With social commentary woven into the narrative, “A Hip Hop Story” follows a pioneer of the culture joining forces with elite rap performers to rescue Hip Hop. The IMDB-listed additional cast includes Miles Brown, Fredo Starr, Treach, Page Kennedy, Craig Wayans, and Lordes Gonzalez.

Produced by Crockett, Radcliff, Charlie Mack, and Talitha Watkins, the film will be distributed by AMCi distribution, known for projects like “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” and “Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé.”

Crockett shared, “A Hip Hop Story is our love letter to the culture that shaped our lives. It’s a comedy with a message that encourages all of us to see our value.” Charlie Mack added, “A Hip Hop Story is a wonderful journey over the span of 50 years, through the eyes of one of the forefathers of Hip Hop. The film explores where it came from and where the journey settles today. Enjoy A Hip Hop Story!”

Set to open the 32nd annual Pan African Film Festival on February 7, 2024 before opening in AMC theaters on February 23rd.
