'A League of Their Own' Renewed for Shortened Final Season on Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video has confirmed that “A League of Their Own” will return for a second and final season. This news comes following months of negotiations with Sony TV. The hour-long series, created by Will Graham and Abbi Jacobson, is an adaptation of Penny Marshall’s 1992 film and has developed a cult following due to its diverse and queer women characters. The second season of “A League of Their Own” will consist of four episodes, bringing the series to a close.

The first season of the show was well-received and garnered a significant viewership. In addition to its loyal fanbase, the show received critical acclaim and was nominated for several awards, including a GLAAD Media Award, an NAACP Image Award, and an Independent Spirit Award for Gbemisola Ikumelo’s supporting performance.

The show, which follows the formation of a women’s professional baseball team during World War II, features an impressive ensemble cast, including Abbi Jacobson, Chanté Adams, D’Arcy Carden, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Roberta Collindrez, Kelly McCormack, Priscilla Delgado, Molly Ephraim, Kate Berlant, Melanie Field, Nick Offerman, Rosie O’Donnell, Patrick J. Adams, Patrice Covington, Sadiah Ekulona, Lea Robinson, Andia Winslow, Rae Gray, and Lil Frex.

Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television produce the series in association with Field Trip Productions. Hailey Wierengo and Desta Tedros Reff of Field Trip also serve as executive producers alongside Jacobson and Graham. Jamie Babbit directed the pilot episode and serves as an executive producer as well.
