A24 Drops Trailer for ‘Primetime,’ Based on Chris Hansen’s ‘To Catch a Predator,’ Featuring Bokeem Woodbine

A24 has released the first trailer for Primetime, its upcoming drama chronicling the origins of Chris Hansen’s notorious NBC hidden camera series To Catch a Predator, and the cast is stacked.

Bokeem Woodbine joins Robert Pattinson, who stars as Hansen himself, alongside Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, Matthew Maher, Anna Faris, and Phoebe Bridgers in her feature acting debut. The film is set in 2006, at the peak of To Catch a Predator‘s popularity, following Hansen as he sets out to make television history.

The trailer leans into the eerie familiarity of Hansen’s signature confrontations, with Pattinson delivering the host’s probing questions with an unsettling, off-kilter precision. “I’m Chris Hansen with Dateline NBC — and you’re about to be a part of television history,” he says with chilling calm.

Woodbine, who has been on a strong run lately with roles in Government Cheese on Apple TV+, Barbershop on Amazon, a voice role in Invincible, and an upcoming turn as Capt. Mixon in Dexter: Resurrection on Paramount+, continues to build one of the more quietly impressive careers in the business.

Directed by Lance Oppenheim (Ren Faire) in his narrative feature debut, Primetime was written by Ajon Singh and produced by Pattinson, Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen, and others. Principal photography took place in New Orleans in early 2025.

Primetime hits theaters this fall from A24.
