AMC Names Nikkole Denson-Randolph U.S. Chief Content Officer

AMC Entertainment has promoted Nikkole Denson-Randolph to senior vice president and U.S. chief content officer, recognizing her impact in bringing alternative content to theaters, including Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour and Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé. She will now oversee AMC’s film programming, content acquisition, and movie strategy initiatives, reporting directly to chairman and CEO Adam Aron.

This leadership change comes as Elizabeth Frank, AMC’s longtime chief content officer and head of worldwide programming, exits after 15 years to become CEO of RealD, a leading 3D cinema technology company.

As part of the transition, Juan Antonio Gomez, chief partnership and content officer at AMC’s Odeon Cinemas Group, will now lead AMC’s international film and content programming. Based in London, he will continue reporting to Mark Way, president of AMC Europe and managing director of Odeon Cinemas Group.

Denson-Randolph has been with AMC for 16 years, most recently serving as SVP of content strategy and inclusive programming. She played a key role in launching AMC Theatres Distribution and helped bring high-profile concert films to the big screen. Additionally, she led initiatives like AMC Artisan Films and AMC Independent, which champion diverse and specialty content.

With her deep industry relationships and keen eye for engaging programming, Denson-Randolph has positioned AMC as a leader in showcasing both major studio releases and alternative content. In her new role, she will focus on growing AMC’s film slate, strengthening partnerships with studios, and driving innovative programming that attracts moviegoers.

While Denson-Randolph takes the reins in the U.S., Gomez will continue shaping the company’s international film programming. Since AMC’s acquisition of Odeon in 2016, he has played a key role in expanding the exhibitor’s global reach. His expertise in international content strategy will be instrumental in AMC’s continued growth outside the U.S.

Frank’s exit marks the end of a tenure that saw AMC rise from the second-largest theater chain in the U.S. to the largest exhibitor worldwide. Now stepping into a leadership role at RealD, she will focus on advancing 3D cinema technology at a time when the format is seeing renewed box office success.

In 2024, nine of the top 10 highest-grossing films worldwide played in RealD theaters, including Deadpool & Wolverine and Inside Out 2, both of which brought in nearly $95 million in global RealD box office revenue. With her deep knowledge of the theatrical market, Frank is expected to drive further innovation in 3D technology and its impact on the moviegoing experience.

As AMC moves forward, Denson-Randolph and Gomez will work to enhance the company’s film programming, blending traditional blockbusters with alternative content to keep audiences engaged and theaters thriving.
