Apple TV+ Unveils First Look at Sci-Fi Thriller Murderbot, Starring Noma Dumezweni & Tattiawna Jones

Apple TV+ is gearing up for the premiere of Murderbot, a genre-blending sci-fi thriller with a comedic edge, set to debut globally on Friday, May 16, 2025. Led by Alexander Skarsgård (Succession, Big Little Lies), the star-studded ensemble also includes Noma Dumezweni (Presumed Innocent), Tattiawna Jones (The Handmaid’s Tale), David Dastmalchian (Oppenheimer), Sabrina Wu (Joy Ride), Akshay Khanna (Critical Incident), and Tamara Podemski (Outer Range).

Based on Martha Wells’ award-winning book series, Murderbot follows a rogue security construct that has secretly hacked its own system to gain free will. Torn between protecting a group of humans and indulging its love for futuristic soap operas, it must navigate an assignment that threatens to expose its newfound autonomy—all while grappling with the complexities of human emotion.

Created by Academy Award nominees Chris and Paul Weitz (About a Boy, Mozart in the Jungle), the series is produced by Paramount Television Studios. The Weitz brothers also serve as executive producers alongside Andrew Miano for Depth of Field, with David S. Goyer and Keith Levine producing for Phantom Four. Wells is on board as a consulting producer.

With its mix of sharp wit, high-stakes action, and a compelling cast, Murderbot is shaping up to be a must-watch sci-fi adventure. The series kicks off with a two-episode premiere on May 16, followed by weekly episodes every Friday through July 11.
