Sony Sets “Bad Boys 4” for Father’s Day 2024; Tom Hardy’s “Venom 3” Lands Mid-Summer Release Date

Sony Pictures has announced the release dates for two highly-anticipated films, “Bad Boys 4” and “Venom 3.” The action-packed movies are expected to be major summer blockbusters in 2024.

“Bad Boys 4” is scheduled to hit theaters on June 14, 2024, coinciding with Father’s Day weekend. The film reunites stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as Miami detectives Detective Mike Lowrey and Detective Marcus Burnett, respectively. Tasha Smith joins the cast, replacing Theresa Randle, and will portray Theresa Burnett. The film is directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who also directed “Bad Boys for Life” (2020). Chris Bremner pens the script. Additional cast members include Paola Núñez, Vanessa Hudgens, and Alexander Ludwig in undisclosed roles.

“Bad Boys 4” continues the story of Miami detectives Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence), following the immense success of the franchise, which has grossed over $840 million across its first three films. The third film, “Bad Boys for Life,” earned $426 million worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing movie in the series.

Meanwhile, the third installment in the “Venom” series, starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock/Venom, is scheduled to be released on July 12, 2024. Unlike its predecessors, “Venom 3” is making its debut during the mid-summer season, sandwiched between Disney’s “Mufasa: The Lion King” (July 5, 2024) and Universal’s “Twisters” (July 19, 2024).

“Venom 3” marks the latest entry in the Tom Hardy-led franchise, with Kelly Marcel stepping into the director’s chair. The previous two films, “Venom” (2018) and “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” (2021), were both box office hits, grossing $856 million and $502 million worldwide, respectively.

Sony’s release calendar also includes major changes, such as the delay of “Kraven the Hunter” and a “Ghostbusters” sequel to 2024, and the removal of “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” from the schedule. For more details on that click here.
