Issa Rae makes her first appearance as one of the barbies in the Barbie teaser trailer. The film which stars Margot Robbie in the main title role also stars Will Ferrell, Ryan Gosling, Simu Liu, Alexandra Shipp, Ncuti Gatwa, Kingsley Ben-Adir, America Ferrara, and more.

Details with regard to the Warner Bros. film’s plot and character roles are still being kept under wraps but a broad synopsis reads: After being expelled from Barbieland for being a less than perfect-looking doll, Barbie sets off for the human world to find true happiness.
And in the teaser we find Barbie and Ken stuck in the real world, where the former discovers the challenges of being a live woman. Robbie stars opposite Ryan Gosling, who plays Barbie’s longtime boy toy Ken. Ferrell will play the CEO of a toy company

Along with the aforementioned cast Emma Mackey, Connor Swindells, Emerald Fennell, Kate McKinnon, Michael Cera, Rhea Perlman, Sharon Rooney, Scott Evans, Ana Cruz Kayne, Ritu Arya, Jamie Demetriou, and Hari Nef round out the star-studded cast.
Gerwig is directing and co-wrote the screenplay alongside Noah Baumbach. Robbie, in addition to her starring role, is on board as a producer as well. Tom Ackerley is producing under his and Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment production banner, alongside Mattel Films, Heyday Films. LuckyChap’s Josey McNamara and Mattel’s Ynon Kreiz as executive producers. The film began production earlier this year in London and wrapped in July.
