Amazon MGM Studios officially greenlit “A Simple Favor 2,” the sequel to the 2018 hit film, confirming earlier reports. Directed by Paul Feig, the movie will see the return of stars Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick, along with other original cast members: Bashir Salahuddin, Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Joshua Satine, Ian Ho, Kelly McCormack, and Aparna Nancherla.
The film has also added seven new cast members: Alex Newell, Taylor Ortega, Lorenzo de Moor, Elena Sofia Ricci, Michele Morrone, and Elizabeth Perkins.
Following up on earlier reports from Deadline, the studio has announced that cameras will start rolling this spring, with a streaming release planned for Prime Video across 240 countries. Lionsgate is co-producing the project, building on the success of the first film which grossed an impressive $97 million against a $20 million budget.

In this installment, viewers can expect to join Stephanie Smothers (played by Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (played by Lively) as they embark on a journey to the picturesque island of Capri, Italy, for Emily’s opulent wedding to a wealthy Italian magnate. But amidst the glamour and celebration, intrigue and danger lurk, promising a wedding with more twists and turns than a cliffside road.
All new cast roles are under wraps for now.
The script, based on characters created by Darcy Bell, is penned by Jessica Sharzer, who also wrote the first film, with revisions by Laeta Kalogridis and Feig himself. Feigco Entertainment, led by Feig and Laura Fischer, will be at the helm of production, with Sharzer serving as executive producer.
The success of the first film cemented its status as a standout in the dark comedy genre. With production underway for the sequel, audiences can look forward to another intriguing mystery with Kendrick and Lively.
