The show aims to capture the unique atmosphere of Atlanta in the early ’90s, as described by Ortiz: “Exploring Atlanta in the early ’90s is like finding a cave full of diamonds.” Ortiz emphasizes the opportunity to narrate the city’s story through the eyes of a young cast growing alongside it, highlighting Atlanta’s emergence as America’s Black Mecca.

Tyler Perry serves as an executive producer alongside Ortiz, who is also the series writer. Producers include Asante White and Deance Wyatt.

BET+ adopts a unique release format, unveiling the first four episodes of “Perimeter” on February 29th. Ortiz explains the decision, stating, “When pitching the show, we knew that a single pilot episode wouldn’t be worthy of the story we are trying to tell. With the help of Tyler Perry and BET, we committed to doing the first four episodes of the series to give people a taste of what to truly expect with Perimeter season one.”
