CBS has expanded the ensemble for its much-anticipated daytime soap Beyond the Gates, with ten new cast members joining the drama just before production begins in November. Set to premiere in early 2025, Beyond the Gates is breaking ground as the first predominantly Black-cast daytime soap since Generations in 1989, bringing a fresh narrative of wealth, legacy, and hidden secrets to daytime television.
Joining previously cast Tamara Tunie, Daphnee Duplaix, and Karla Mosley, who portray members of the Dupree family, CBS has cast Brandon Claybon, Timon Durrett, Sean Freeman, Marquita Goings, Maurice Johnson, Trisha Mann-Grant, RhonniRose Mantilla, Ambyr Michelle, Colby Muhammad, and Arielle Prepetit. This new group rounds out the show’s multi-generational families in a gated Maryland community known for its Black royalty.
New Cast Additions: Meet the Characters
The Richardson Family
- Maurice Johnson (Chicago Fire) steps in as Ted Richardson, a top-tier plastic surgeon and family man whose prestigious reputation is a key pillar in the Dupree legacy.
- Brandon Claybon (Grey’s Anatomy) takes on the role of Martin Richardson, an openly gay congressman navigating power and identity from his life in Washington, D.C.
- Colby Muhammad stars as Kat Richardson, Ted’s youngest child, whose entitled and spoiled nature adds friction within her elite family.
The Hamilton Family
- Sean Freeman (Finding Happy) will portray Andre Hamilton, a wealthy photographer who inherited his fortune and freedom after a tragic family loss.
- Timon Durrett (Queen Sugar) joins as Bill Hamilton, a charismatic, media-hungry character who stirs the pot as Dani Dupree’s ex-husband.
- Arielle Prepetit (BMF) stars as Naomi Hamilton Hawthorne, a grounded civil attorney and Bill’s oldest daughter.
- RhonniRose Mantilla is cast as Chelsea Hamilton, Naomi’s younger sister and a successful high-fashion model who has risen to social media fame.
- Marquita Goings (Woke) plays Hayley Lawson, a stunning paralegal who’s also Bill’s new fiancée.
The Thomas Family
- Trisha Mann-Grant (Family Business) joins as Dana “Leslie” Thomas, a waitress and long-time family friend with a vibrant personality.
- Ambyr Michelle (Snowfall) stars as Dana’s daughter Eva, who is new to the Dupree family’s inner circle as Nicole Dupree’s ambitious assistant.
