CBS has released the first teaser for Beyond the Gates, a bold new daytime drama set to premiere February 24, taking over The Talk’s former timeslot. This groundbreaking series marks a major milestone as the first Black-led one-hour daytime soap opera on television since 1987 Generations, and the first new daytime drama to debut since Passions in 1999.

The teaser introduces viewers to the Duprees, a prominent Black family reigning over their elite Maryland community from Fairmont Crest, an exclusive country club where opulence meets intrigue. Beneath the surface of their lavish lives lies a web of deep secrets, power struggles, and high-stakes drama.
Created by Michele Val Jean, Beyond the Gates promises to spotlight multidimensional Black characters in a world rarely depicted in daytime television. The series is a collaboration between CBS Studios and the CBS/NAACP Production Venture, with additional backing from P&G Studios.
Set in a wealthy suburb near Washington, D.C., the show explores themes of legacy, privilege, and hidden tensions. Production began in Atlanta in november, and the series boasts an impressive ensemble cast. Tamara Tunie (Law & Order: SVU), Clifton Davis (Amen), Daphnee Duplaix (One Life to Live), and Karla Mosley (The Bold and the Beautiful) lead the cast as members of the Dupree family.
Tunie plays Anita Dupree, the family’s formidable matriarch, a former singer who climbed her way to fame and fortune. Her daughters, Nicole Dupree Richardson (Duplaix), a psychiatrist with secrets of her own, and Dani Dupree (Mosley), a former model turned “momager,” add layers of complexity to the family’s dynamic.
The supporting cast includes Maurice Johnson (Chicago Fire) as Ted Richardson, a respected plastic surgeon; Timon Kyle Durrett (Queen Sugar) as Bill Hamilton, a media-savvy ex-husband; and Marquita Goings (Woke) as Hayley Lawson, Bill’s glamorous new fiancée.
Michele Val Jean serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Sheila Ducksworth, Julie Carruthers, and a team of industry veterans. The series also marks a pivotal partnership between CBS Studios, the CBS/NAACP Venture, and P&G Studios to amplify diverse stories.
Following The Talk’s final episode on December 20, CBS will air reruns of The Price Is Right in the timeslot until Beyond the Gates makes its debut. Episodes will air weekdays from 2-3 PM ET/1-2 PM PT and will also stream on Paramount+.
