Kountry Wayne (Time Bandits), Coco Jones (Bel-Air), and Emmy Raver-Lampman (The Beekeeper) star in the upcoming romantic comedy That’s Her.
The project which has wrapped production in Atlanta also stars Loretta Devine, Tabitha Brown, J. Alphonse Nicholson (P-Valley), Patricia “Ms. Pat” Williams, and Nigerian comedian Bovi. Nina Lee directed the film, based on a screenplay she co-wrote with Wayne and Tiffany Yancey.
The film follows Wayne as a corporate playboy caught in a romantic dilemma between two very different women—a charming temp played by Jones and a high-powered executive portrayed by Raver-Lampman. His career ambitions and personal relationships collide, forcing him to choose between love and his professional aspirations.
“This film is going to give people that ’90s rom-com energy we love but with a fresh, new-school twist,” Wayne said. “It’s nostalgia and innovation wrapped into one.”
Wayne, who also originated the story concept, is producing under his Kountry Wayne Entertainment banner. Stephen “Dr.” Love (They Cloned Tyrone, Shadow Force) is producing through Made with Love Media, with Coco Jones and Latisha Fortune serving as executive producers.
“This colorful story about love digs deeper than many romcoms—it explores how our parents’ relationships shape how we approach dating,” said Lee. “It’s hilarious, poignant, and visually stunning. I wanted to pay artistic homage to films like When Harry Met Sally, Boomerang, Young Girls of Rochefort, and B.A.P.S. Watching this film, you’ll see that love isn’t linear.”
Music will play a significant role in That’s Her, with Kids Against Cubicles, the production arm of LVRN, handling the score and soundtrack. Known for working with artists like Summer Walker and 6lack, the team will blend nostalgic and modern sounds to complement the film’s humor and emotional depth.
“When Wayne brought me this idea, I knew we had something special—a chance to capture the magic of classics like Boomerang and Brown Sugar while incorporating modern visuals inspired by films like La La Land and Her,” said Love.
Stay tuned for updates on the project.
