Caroline Chikezie, known for her role in “Power Book II: Ghost,” and Princess Adenike (“Nanny”), headline the new indie short film, “A Beauty Supply In Queens.” This drama, inspired by a true story, explores the journey of a Nigerian family who established one of the first Black-owned beauty supply stores in Jamaica, Queens, NY, a decade ago.

Currently in post-production, the film delves into the initial hurdles the family encountered in an industry dominated by gatekeepers. It highlights the resilience and unity of the family and the support of their community.

The ensemble cast features Clem Cheung, Paul Wang, Angela Chew, and Angella Katherine. Directed by Oluseyi Olatujoye and written by Adenike, “A Beauty Supply In Queens” also sees Chikezie producing under her company, Spark of the Divine Entertainment, alongside Shalom C. Obiago.

The production team aims to expand the short film into a feature or series following its run on the festival circuit. Executive producer Amona Media, known for projects showcased at the Rhode Island International Film Festival, Essence Film Festival, and Pan African Film Festival, backs the film.

Caroline Chikezie, who gained fame with the hit EbonyLife and Netflix series “The Governor,” will next appear in the final season of “Power Book II: Ghost,” premiering on June 7. Princess Adenike was recently seen in Netflix’s “Survival Of The Thickest.”
