CBS is doubling down on expanding its hit comedy The Neighborhood into a full-fledged franchise, with a new spinoff in the works. This offshoot will follow the lovable but often mischievous duo of Malcolm (Sheaun McKinney) and Marty (Marcel Spears), who will finally leave their parents’ home and venture into a new chapter of their lives. The Season 7 finale of The Neighborhood will serve as a backdoor pilot for the spinoff, introducing three fresh characters who will join Malcolm and Marty in this exciting new journey.

The new trio will include a socially awkward tech millionaire, an aspiring influencer, and a content creator working at a SoCal cannabis shop, all ready to shake things up in the world of these two best friends. Set in the sun-soaked neighborhood of Venice Beach, this untitled series is slated to premiere in the 2025-26 TV season, giving fans a glimpse of Malcolm and Marty’s adventures as they adapt to life in a neighborhood that’s both familiar and completely different from the one they’ve known.

As with the original series, the spinoff will be brought to life by The Neighborhood’s showrunners Bill Martin and Mike Schiff, who will write the script. They’ll also executive-produce alongside Cedric the Entertainer, Aaron Kaplan, Wendi Trilling, and Eric C. Rhone, ensuring that the comedic heart and humor of The Neighborhood will continue in its new iteration.

But that’s not all—this new spinoff follows in the footsteps of another The Neighborhood spinoff, Crutch, starring Tracy Morgan. Crutch will bypass CBS and debut on Paramount+, offering a fresh perspective on the Neighborhood universe with a brand-new setting and characters. Morgan will take on the role of Francois “Frank” Crutchfield, a Harlem shop owner whose life is turned upside down when his adult children move back home.

In addition to McKinney and Spears, The Neighborhood’s core cast includes Cedric the Entertainer, Max Greenfield, Tichina Arnold, and Beth Behrs, with the show’s seventh season resuming on January 27. Whether or not the show will return for an eighth season is still to be determined, with a decision expected in the spring.

CBS isn’t just stopping at Malcolm and Marty—with the success of spinoffs like Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, the network is clearly committed to building out the Neighborhood universe even further. If this latest project proves successful, fans can expect to see these two new characters and their wild new adventures hitting screens in the 2025-26 TV season.
