Chiwetel Ejiofor has landed another role within the Marvel universe, as sources confirm to Deadline that he has officially closed a deal to co-star alongside Tom Hardy in Sony and Marvel’s highly anticipated film, “Venom 3.”
Ejiofor’s casting brings an added level of intrigue to the project, which sees Hardy reprising his role as the formidable Venom. Juno Temple is also set to join the cast.
Kelly Marcel, the franchise’s longtime writer, will take over the directing duties. Marcel and Hardy will also write the screenplay for the movie from their own story. Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, and Hutch Parker are also on board as producers. Sony declined to comment on Ejiofor’s casting.
While plot details are being kept under wraps, one thing is certain: Hardy’s return as the lethal protector Venom is eagerly anticipated. I mean the combined global box office success of the first two films amassed an impressive $1.36 billion. It remains unknown whether any characters from the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters will make appearances alongside Hardy or if any familiar faces from previous films will be involved.
