Corey Hawkins Leads to Battle Against Dracula in The Last Voyage of the Demeter [TRAILER]

Universal Pictures has released the trailer for “The Last Voyage of the Demeter,” an upcoming horror film directed by André Øvredal. Based on a chilling chapter from Bram Stoker’s classic novel, Dracula, the movie follows the harrowing story of the merchant ship Demeter, chartered to transport fifty unmarked wooden crates from Carpathia to London.

As the ill-fated crew attempts to survive the perilous ocean voyage, they encounter a series of strange and terrifying events. Each night, an unrelenting presence stalks the ship, instilling fear and paranoia among the doomed sailors. However, when the Demeter finally reaches the shores of England, it arrives as a charred, derelict wreck, with no trace of the crew.

Corey Hawkins leads the cast as Clemens, a doctor who joins the Demeter’s crew. Aisling Franciosi, Liam Cunningham, and David Dastmalchian also star in the film as an unwitting stowaway, the ship’s captain, and the Demeter’s first mate, respectively. The ensemble is rounded out by Jon Jon Briones, Stefan Kapicic, Nikolai Nikolaeff, and Javier Botet.

Directed by André Øvredal, “The Last Voyage of the Demeter” aims to expand the single chapter from Bram Stoker’s novel into a full-length cinematic experience. The screenplay, penned by Bragi Schut, Jr. and Zak Olkewicz, draws inspiration from the log of the Demeter in “Dracula.”

The film’s trailer teases an atmospheric and suspenseful journey, where fear and dread escalate as the crew members mysteriously vanish. Although the trailer doesn’t reveal the movie’s ending, fans of the original novel know that the story leads to a tragic outcome.

After a period of delay, “The Last Voyage of the Demeter” is scheduled to hit theaters on August 11, watch the trailer below.
